Edgar Garcia
Pulpit Minister
Edgar is married to Lecille, who pastors TJFM with him. Their children are Ethan and Alenna.
Edgar is originally from another city, Pagadian City, where he learned about the Bible and Jesus at a young age from a Sunday school teacher who visited their home and offered to teach him and his siblings Bible stories. Their entire family became believers because of that. His parents started the first Christian bookshop in their city. Edgar loved reading and studying the Bible, especially in their bookshop, studying charts, panoramic presentations of the Bible, and Bible encyclopedia.
He graduated in 1987 from the University of the Philippines, Cebu College with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He began engaging in the ministry right after college, conducting Bible studies, helping a campus ministry, and then helping the new local church right at their home. In 1991 he was sent by his pastor to Butuan City to attend the ministry training at Living Springs School of Christian Ministry. After graduation he then got involved in 3 church planting efforts, as an assistant, in 3 different places.
In 1993 he was invited to become a teaching staff of Living Springs School of Christian Ministry (which later became Living Springs International, and now, Simply Mobilizing International) where he worked until 1997. This is where he met his wife Lecille, who also works at LSI, and they got married in 1995. He left for Cebu City with his family, and returned to LSI in 2000, and worked there until 2015. Edgar began work at Living Springs as teaching staff in their Ministry Development Course. Living Springs evolved into a mission mobilizing ministry and Edgar and Lecille got involved in conducting mission courses and mission mobilization. Edgar learned computer skills while they were in Cebu City and became SMI's computer systems administrator and worked with multimedia in SMI's video-based courses and programs.
He went through other ministry courses and training, earning a diploma in the International School of Ministry (ISOM) in 2005, and certificates at the World Harvest Institute cross-cultural mission training in Sydney, Australia in 2008, and the Perspectives Course in 2009.
In 2006, Lecille's aunt from the USA started a Bible Study in her home and invited Edgar to teach. This home Bible study grew through the wonderful works of God and the collaboration of God's amazing people, and became our church, The Jesus Family Ministries (TJFM). In 2015 Edgar resigned from SMI to pastor TJFM full-time.
Edgar loves science and technology, God's kingdom ideas! He is looking forward to the consummation of Christ's kingdom, when His people will gain limitless understanding and application of these things and engage in kingdom works in the ages to come.
Edgar and Lecille feel so blessed and privileged to be leaders of such a wonderful church family as TJFM.
